Ascension or dissension on a ladder may be an unconscious reflection of your movement toward a goal. Ascending is generally a more positive symbol than descending. The ladder is suggestive of hard work and exertion of energy. The ladder may also be symbolic of the "way to heaven". Missing rungs may symbolise missing elements or hardships and handicaps that you could be (or are) encountering on your ascent to better and bigger things.

All bodies of water generally represent our emotions and our unconscious. Old dream interpretation books say that lakes are associated with romantic feelings. If the lake is calm, your love life is probably in such good shape that you feel safe. Stormy water means to strap your self in and get ready for a bumpy ride. If you see a monster in the water, your unconscious may be suggesting that you have competition (or some unseen issue or problem).

To interpret this dream most accurately, please consider all of the details in the dream and its mood. The lamb in your dream could have negative or positive connotations and it could reflect some of your personal characteristics or attributes. On the positive end, the lamb symbolises gentleness, warmth, love, innocence, and for the spiritually-minded, the Lamb of God. More negative interpretations of this dream symbol would be that the lamb in your dream is a "sacrificial" lamb, or "lamb going to the slaughter".

Languages that you do not understand in dreams may represent feelings of failing to understand something in your waking life, or that you might be missing the point of a situation in waking life. If someone is translating the foreign language for you it could mean that you need someone else to help you understand the point or situation that you are failing to grasp on your own.

If you find that you are speaking a foreign language is could be that your subconscious feels that you need to broaden the scope of your aspirations, learn new things that are hitherto unknown to you. If you find yourself having to interpret a foreign language for other people in your dreams it could reflect a feeling that your friends, family or workmates are relying on you too much to explain things to them, or that you're feeling overburdened by their lack of understanding.

If the language in your dreams is gibberish that you can't understand, or you have difficulty speaking clearly yourself, it could be that you're having trouble communicating with others in waking life, or that you are feeling anxious about an upcoming event that relies on your being able to speak eloquently to achieve your goals.

Listening to foreign languages in dreams that you don't understand can also represent part of your self that you don't normally listen to trying to communicate with you, and a process of understanding this part of you can often be accompanied by a process of understanding the foreign language, bit by bit, in your dreams.

Lark

A lark represents a desire to rise above worldly matters. Dreaming that you kill a lark can mean that you have lost your innocence.

Traditionally a dream of singing larks is a sign of good luck, while a wounded or dead lark portends misfortune.

If you are arriving late, your unconscious may be telling you to be more perceptive and to use more foresight when making plans. Lateness suggests that the dreamer may be feeling unprepared and distracted in a particular situation in daily life or in regard to long-term goals.

It is quite common to laugh in dreams, and from time to time to find yourself still laughing when you wake up. Often, the more you think about it after waking the more you wonder what was so funny. It may seem that there wasn't anything worth laughing for at all to your waking mind or, if you're lucky, it may still be funny and you may find yourself sniggering at the dream all day, or even longer.

You may be able to make more sense of your dream if you try and isolate the images or symbols that made you laugh. Sometimes laughter can simply be a way to amuse you, for light relief, and other times laughter and joking can be used to emphasize a more serious issue. As the old adage goes, many a true word is spoken in jest. So it could be that your dream is trying to get a serious point across through the medium of comedy.

Negative laughter, directed at you for instance, can have connections with embarrassment, emotions and vulnerability. This could reflect particular areas of your life where you feel susceptible to ridicule, or even paranoia regarding how others perceive you. There is also the possibility that you are laughing negatively at yourself because of your own pretensions.

Whether it is a leaky pipe or a bottle of fizzy drink, any type of a leak is usually a waste of energy and resources. If you are dreaming about leaks, you may want to consider where you are wasting energy and resources (be it in your daily life, emotional life or thinking). Additionally, look carefully at the entire dream and see if information is being "leaked" from the unconscious to the conscious. The leaking water may represent emotions, thoughts, or insights entering slowly into the conscious experience of the dreamer.

Leeches are parasites that drain your energy and your resources. They are literally "blood suckers" and what they represent from your life is up to you to determine. Think about all of the draining things around you or inside of you. Usually dreams are designed to make us more aware of ourselves. Thus, the leeches may represent your own habits, thoughts, and negative emotions rather than someone in your environment. In the old days (and maybe in some remote parts of the world this is still happening) leeches were used for medical purposes. They were harvested and used in case of infection or other physical condition where by poisonous or harmful substance needed to be removed form the body. Maybe the leeches in your dream are there to suck out all of the negativity that you acquire throughout your day or in a particular situation.

A dream about legs can be a sign that you are developing confidence - you can "stand up for yourself." However, if you dream that your legs are weak, wounded or crippled, you may be lacking confidence and feeling vulnerable.

If you dream that one of your legs is shorter than the other, you may be lacking balance in your life.

A dream that you have three legs can be a sign that you are taking on too much responsibility.

If you dream about someone else's legs, you may admire them and wish to take on some of their qualities.

Thighs can represent strength and endurance, knees can stand for vulnerability, calves can symbolize movement and versatility and ankles can represent a need for support.

Traditionally, a dream that you have a wooden leg means that you are going to have many new worries.

A leopard can represent courage, anger or cruelty. Because a leopard's spots resemble eyes, a dream of a leopard can be a warning that you need to be alert.

A leper can symbolize feelings of inferiority.

Dreaming about receiving letters, just as in daily life, usually represents receiving news, information, or messages from someone specific, from your unconscious, or from the world at large. If you look forward to mail, this dream may have positive connotations for you. However, if you dread the envelopes that typically hold the monthly bills, then this dream may have negative and anxiety provoking meaning. Typically, however, dreaming about receiving letters has positive and, at times, spiritual connotations. You may be coming into greater awareness about some aspect of your life, having new realisations, increasing self- understanding, or getting to the truth of things that concern you. Some believe that seeing many unopened letters in your dreams may represent missed opportunities.

You may be trying to assimilate some new information or idea. A library is a place of learning and is generally a good dream image. It suggests that you may be close to solving a problem or discovering something new and exciting.

Going up and down in the lift may symbolise going from one state of consciousness to another. Messages from the unconscious may be accessible. Some believe that the lift may be a symbol of a boring and mechanical sex life. On a more pragmatic note, the lift may simply represent the "ups and downs" of life. If you are ascending, then you may perceive your current situation as optimistic and moving upward. If you are descending, you may be experiencing some negativity and helplessness.
