Basically Steam is the new engine for searching out and playing Sierra games; Half Life, Counter Strike, Team Fortress etc... You can install Steam without any games on it but Steam will have to search for the files and download before you can play TFC for instance. So downloading Steam with the games you play will save time and hassle in the long run... Through Steam will soon be the only way to play these games as the WON network is going off-line.
