I also have a hunch that the children in your dream aren't real children at all. At first I thought they were aspects of your own personality, but you said you don't get that "me" vibe. You should try and think about what things in your life they might represent. I don't know if or how well you can control your dreams, but ìf you can, the next time one of these kids shows up in your dream, you should try to ask him or her who they are and what they want.

P.S. This is probably obvious, but if you do have children in real life they are going to be their own individuals, different from your "dream children." Love your real children for who they are, not for who you expect or want them to be. OK, off my soapbox now
