Okay to be more objective I had a listen to
Pulse Of The Maggots and can see why they are popular with younger people. I think I'm too old to appreciate them properly; I know when I was younger I would have thought they were cool and possibly radical, now I'm older I feel I've heard it all before (the words I mean) and they sound like a bunch of young people going blah blah blah about things they are too young to have properly experienced or appreciate yet... I feel the same way about most Goth type music actually; I must admit I've been slightly poisened by an ex-flatmate that used to listen to this stuff, he wanted to be a Goth so much he was more like a walking stereo-type as they often are. I always get the impression with this music genre that they're saying, 'We are sick of everything; we know more than the
everyday person; one day we will rule you all,' which to me translates as: I have low self-esteem; I'm depressed and I don't feel like I fit in, which is what
all young people go through but don't always have to listen to music that keeps reminding them of the more miserable side of life.
Also I think the music is a little generic. :P
But, like I said, I think I'm just too old and may be reading more into it than there is? I certainly wouldn't like there to be an end to this type of music or their fans; the world would be very boring if we all liked the same things, the best anyone can do is like what they like and not be swayed by other people's opinions into not listening to their favourite music et cetera... Or, in other words; ignore everything I just said, just my opinions, and carry on enjoying Slipknot and any other music that fires your imagination.
