You've pretty much lost me with the 100, 50, 0, and the 100 + 0 = 50 thing.

These are my thoughts:

People are always going to want answers to these things but there aren't any; it's the same with everything. People pay good money for books on 'secrets' for happiness, how to make a movie, playing the stock market, how to meet girls/boys - the list is endless. There are no secrets for these things because there are no answers, just that many people like to believe that somewhere, somehow, there must be someone who knows more about why we're here, how to be happy or whatever, than they do.

There is no secret to being happy, for instance, because the things that you think you need to make you happy now can so easily change in a few years’ time. It works the same for the things that make you sad.

Sometimes in life you will be happy, and sometimes you will not. If you are happy more often than not you are very lucky - but no matter how lucky you are circumstances that make you unhappy will always present themselves throughout your life. You can control, to some degree, the things that you do and influence on a personal level, but you cannot control or influence some outside circumstances that will affect your life.

Happiness is what everyone wants, one way or another, but the truth is no one knows of a universal way to achieve it. If there are any secrets they only apply to individuals - your secret to happiness will not be the same as someone else’s, or even to the other self which is you in ten year's time. The fun part is trying to discover your own secrets to happiness as you go along.

One thing is for sure though, I've said this before somewhere, if you only do good things throughout your life, be nice to people and try and help people if you can, you will only have nice thoughts and memories to look back on if you are lucky enough to grow old. You wont have any regrets if you have fond memories to watch.

People, I think, are far too hung up on regrets these days - should I do this, should I do that? If I do this now will I regret it/miss out on another opportunity? I think a lot of people, in Western civilization at least, need to chill out more - try not to always seek for something 'better' but, at the same time, not get bogged down by apathy. Nothing is ever permanent, good or bad, so you must either live it up and make the most of the good times - for they will end or change eventually, or try to keep hanging in their and look to the stars through the bad times - for they will end eventually.
