'all right' is the proper way, but 'alright' is commonly accepted as a modern adaptation; and is described as so in most dictionaries.

Cheers Prof. Has it always been like that, or is it a relatively new idea? I feel 'all right' as only introduced as 'proper' about 8 years ago...Could be wrong!
