Sir Richard Branson has signed an agreement worth £14 million for Virgin to take passengers into space. He is currently working with a company in the US to build five ‘spaceliners’; due to be launched in about three years’ time. He says he already has 3000 willing customers for his space flights, “If it’s a success, we want to move up to orbital flights and then, possibly, even get a hotel up there.”
