Question about amount of members on board at one time.

I noticed at the bottom of the message board on the front page that the most members on line at one time was on July 17, 2005 in the early a.m. (around 6:45), and the total was 286.

286?

How is it then, that when I'm on the board I'm either the only one or I'm a registered member with an unnamed ponderer?

I'm just curious. Did something important or extrordinary happen to get everyone on this board at once, or is the number just an error in the board's program?

I'm usually on line in the late evening on a Friday or on a Saturday, either at night or during the afternoon, USA Eastern Time (if it matters).

Marcia and I were puzzling over that ourselves; the most ever before that was 21 I think. I know that Google was messing around with it's database and ranking system last week, perhaps they temporarily shot us to the top of people's search results for all sorts of searches for a few minutes or something. At least I hope that's what it is, it would be pretty manic on here if there were over 200 people all the time.

Thanks for the explaination. I was afraid I missed something. I thought, would could have possibly brung 268 people all at once to this board at that hour!
