Runescape is a massive multiplayer adventure, with monsters to kill, quests to complete, and treasure to win. You control your own character who will improve and become more powerful the more you play.

I've only been playing for a couple of weeks so it's still quite new to me; but it is very good, it's totally free unless you want to pay for membership to allow extra features, I've been happily whiling away whole afternoons killing, goblins, giant scorpians, witches and (with a lot of help from Dark Angel, AKA Hazard777) completing quests.

You do have to download the game. I will never be able to do this at work. I can't download anything at all. I was planning on playing on my lunch hour. I'll be lucky if I can get onto it a 1/2 hour a week on the weekend. I just got as far as starting the tutorial. It seems like lots of fun, but I can see I won't get too far with it unless I become immortal.

Oh, I don't remember downloading anything; it must be something really small, you don't have to buy anything like you do with other computer games. I didn't think you would be able to play it at work though because it takes too long, maybe one day you'll be able to play at home.

edit: the tutorial is the worst part actually, it's a bit of a pain, but once you've done it you can do what you like.

The download was really minor, but I can't download anything at work, not even Flashplayer or Realaudio. You need Administrative rights. I thought I could play on my lunch hour.

Well, I'll see what happens at work tomorrow.

How odd. I get the download box and it actually downloads the program, which shouldn't happen because normally whenever I attempt to download *anything at all* I get a "contact administrator" message. But then when I try to log on, I get "error connecting to server."

Later, I checked the faq. It's the stupid firewall.

I don't think it actually downloads anything, it just unpacks the models and parts of the maps into the computer's memory, which are all lost as soon as the computer is switched off. Still, it's a pity if you can't play in your lunch hour.

You're right because it does the same thing everytime you go into Runescape, where if it were a real download, it would do it one time and then it would already be downloaded. The screen looks like a fake download though.

I hate firewalls. I should be able to play games at work all day if I want.

This games really got a grip on me, i had a dream about it. The dream soon turned into a horrid nightmare after i realised i had re-started from the begining by mistake. In the dream/game i had become so powerfull, also it was slightly different to Runescape, more along the line of The Lord of the Rings with speech and better graphics. When i woke it was afew minutes before i realised it was only a nightmare. Perhaps i've burn't too much midnight oil.............. What the hell i'm going to play now!!!!!!! :P

I predict Smoogley will become the Runescape master around here...
