The first time I experienced something like this I was around the age of 5. I would wake up from a dream (normally nightmares about aliens) and see what was in my dream. Sometimes it was an alien standing in my room that seemed so vivid it scared me, actually causing me to run screaming terrified from my room, only to return moments later to realize it was nothing. I would awake with "creatures" from my dreams sitting on my chest or at the foot of my bed. Eventually the "hallucination" dreams, as I started to call them, failed to happen anymore.
Until the beginning of this week. I began taking melatonin as sleep inhibitor to counteract my growing insomnia. Just the other day I woke up, not to see aliens or any of the such, but I man (whom I have never seen before) that was in my dream sitting on the couch next to my bed. I closed my eyes and stretched, at the same time spooked, and when I opened my eyes again the figure was gone. I think the dreams are really unique because I have asked many of my friends if they have experienced something similar and they all just make joking comments as if I am crazy. I was wondering if anyone here has ever heard of or experienced something like this and what the scientific term for this is. Feedback Appreciated. Guy

Oddly enough, I had something very similar last night; I was convinced that there was a vampire in the room with me, I never saw him but I dare not look to see if it was actually there for about 15 minutes. Then I decided I was too tired and didn't care if there was a vampire there or not and told it to get lost, then turned the other way to get back to sleep.
Last time I had anything similar was about ten years ago, this time I did see something; it was a really tall dark figure that I assumed was a ghost drifting into my room, I laughed at it and told that one to get lost too, and it just went away. I think it was this earlier experience that gave me the idea to tell last night's visitor to get lost. I'm not sure what I would have done had the ghost decided to stay. As for scientific terms for your experience, I suppose you could call it an advanced form of Lucid Dreaming? |

Hey all,
I am so glad to have found this site. I love dreams and thought I was crazy for thinking so much about them. Anyways I rarely take 1 gram of b-6, 6mg of melatonin, and 900mg of valerian. I read this helps induce very vivid dreams. I won't recommend it because it scared the hell out of me. Just last night I thought I was awake... I was singing a song my old drama teacher tought me. It was a midevil song he tought us with alliteration. I was singing it and my brother kept yelling at me (we share a room). I wouldn't stop though. It was scary. It don't sound bad, but when you have to be up early and you are cheerfully singing while being yelled at it is strange. It was a hallucination though, I was awake... Or so I could have sworn. When I was about 9 I had gotten very sick and fell asleep and saw angels. Then when I awoke I saw them... They wanted to "take your mom away", but they were real... Well they were so vivid and real... It is very amazing. |

Hey JM, nice to meet you.
I find that simply writing my dreams down makes me remember them more vividly; it's like a sort of self-fulfilling wish type scenario, your brain knows you want to write it all down in the morning so makes you remember everything more clearly. |

I really don't know much about the Valerian being bad on the heart. I just know it can be bad to take alot. I try to not take this recipe alot. Maybe 1 time a month. Calea Zachatachichi is even better than this recipe. It is nasty, but works wonders. Thanks for the warning on valerian though :}

Are you actively testing different substances to induce dream hallucinations then? Could make an interesting journal... personally my dreams are strange enough on their own, I dread to think how dream herbs would affect them.
