Default been having lucid and future predicting dreams as long as i can remember...

so i thought these kinds of dreams were normal up until i went to some dream interpretation forum and spotted the term lucid dreaming. when somebody is aware that they are dreaming when theyre dreaming. i talked to my dad about my lucid dreaming and he said it occured naturally rarely and that his friend used to be in this fad that he wanted to lucid dream and 'expand his mind' or whatever. he was wearing weird gemstone necklaces to bed, doing all sorts of medatating and drinking herb teas, etc etc etc. i found it weird that my dad's friend tried for years to master lucid dreaming while i just did it without even thinking about it or even knowing it was something.
as for the future- predicting dreams, oh man, they are sooo weird. they are usually like short snippets of color, light, and sound. one of them was my grandma in her cherry patterended nightgown saying , "if you get hungry, there are cookies on top of the 'fridge..." except in my dream i only noticed her mouth moving, the red cherries on her nightgown, and her saying "cookies... on the 'fridge...".
the weirdest part of these dreams is that when they happen you notice that you dreamed them a while ago.
i told my cousin about it and she said that i wasnt actually seeing part of the future in my dreams. that i was only imagining it.
i have lucid dreams pretty much every night, the future dreams rarer though. they usually happen around vacations, breaks, ends of the year, times of relaxation. one place where i had a future dream everyday was on cedar island, where i used to camp with my family.
so that sums the understandable part up, much of it wouldnt matter, would be hard to put to reason, etc.

so just reply. ill post the dream ill have tonight tomorrow morning.

Can you explain what you mean by future-predicting dreams? Do you mean that when, in your dream, your grandma said that cookies were on the fridge, after you woke up you found cookies on the fridge? That's something that you would know anyway. Even if you had consciously forgotten that there were cookies on top of the fridge, it would still be remembered by your unconscious mind.

Dreams can reveal things that are hidden from your conscious mind; that isn't the same as predicting the future.

sorry for the lack of clarity. what i meant was that i saw a vision of my grandma in her cherry dress saying that were cookies on the fridge in my dream. then the next day when i went over to visit, she walked into the dining room in her cherry dress and said that there were cookies on the fridge. so basically i saw this happen in my dream and then it really happened.

here's another time this happened. in a dream i was walking down concrete steps in yellow shoes. when i stepped down onto the ground, my leg made a reflex and i woke up from my dream.[detail:yellow is pretty much my least favorite color and i was confused why my shoes were yellow in my dream.] the next day i noticed holes in my water shoes so i drove to walmart to buy another pair. when i got there, there was only one color in my size:yellow. as soon as i saw the yellow shoes i was reminded of my dream. i bought them. the next day when i was walking down the small cement steps leading down to the creek near my house i stumbled over a clump of weeds. so it was like that part of my dream happening again.

so these 'future predicting' dreams im talking about are just snippets of events of no particular importance occuring in my dreams and then happening later that day or week. theyre usually only a couple of seconds, but when they happen i always remember that it was part of a dream i had.

Post i almost forgot...

the dream i had last night. it was me in my old house looking out the window. the faded mauve walls and the brownish colored couches were pretty vivid. outside i could see the flower bed, the two maples standing out in the front yard, nothing out of the ordinary. it was the time just before the sun rises, dim, not by any means dark, like the time you get up to go to work. ive noticed in my dreams most of my nighmares have this kind of lighing. light enough to see that it wants to eat you, dark enough to make it mysterious. but it wasnt a nightmare, it was just me looking out the window of my old house. i probably had this dream because i recently moved from new york to idaho, a big move, around 2000 miles. i guess you could say i kind of miss my old house.

It's interesting that you remember the details of your dreams so vividly.

Do you write them down as soon as you wake up?

i dont write down my dreams. what happens is ill wake up and think about the dream all day and try to figure out what it means. thinking about it for a long time usually helps me remember it. i can remember dreams vividly for about a month to a few years.

You've got a real gift there.

I like the fact that you chose your shoes because of your dream, very nice. not sure how or if you can enhance it bit it may benefit you. This day and age we normally ignore our spirtual messages thoses yellow shoes could have saved your soul somehow.

Smile thanks

hey,
i just wanted to tell you i'm happy i just picked your tread (and this is one of the first things i've read on the internet about dreaming) because i understand pretty much everything you just told us here.

i'm 16 years old now, and i've been having lucid and future predicting dreams pretty much every night for as long as i can remember now..
like you, this is the first time i've heard of the term 'lucid dreaming' and all that, however, i've heard of the term 'deja vu' before, and i've always thought this was it something everyone experiences, apparantly it's not exactly the same (if i'm right).
and yeah the 'flying' and 'modify your dream' experiences, have them even when i dont want to.

my 'future predicting dreams' are mostly like you said, they're short fragments of random events. in my dream i would see them just as they would occur but some details might be left out.
i've got loads of examples that i can remember because like you said, when i think about them they'll stick with me so if you need an example just ask.

some dreams however predict what you could say are slighty bigger twists in my life. for example i've had a long but quite detailed dream saying i would get to meet my crush (and unfortunately later lose her again), or when i was smaller, my grandfather would die or the one time i would start playing the cello which i still do (i didn't know what a 'cello' was back then), the list goes on.

the thing is here, most of the times i don't really pay attention to any dream i had (unless i enjoyed it so much =P), that's why i sometimes only recognise events when they happen.

i've been thinking that these short fragments i've already 'seen' may be deja vu's but i'm sure i've 'seen' these upcoming events in dreams and why do they appear so often and when i know a 'big event' (for me personally only) like kissing my crush might happen i usually try to ignore it cus i dont understand it.

i'm so sorry if you're through all this way reading this huge wall of text!
i just felt like i had to tell all this stuff hehe.
thanks if u actually read all this and good night
ps: dreaming is fun
pps: my post was about my ''future predicting dreams'', but i dream random stuff a lot too of course!^^ hehe.

Hi Nosaw, perhaps you could start an Online Dream Diary on here, just add to it when you feel like it, then you can look back over them in the future and see what patterns you recognize?
