i get lucid dreams regularily. sometimes ill want to wake up from my dream so when im dreaming ill hit myself in the face, scream to be let out, and yell at the people in my dreams to let me out. then sometimes colors will start swirling around everywhere and ill hear this humming sound practically going through my brain. and then everything goes all black and the humming dies down. after that everything is all quiet and i get scared because i cant see or hear anything.

what is this? it happens a couple times a month.

I think that maybe when you realise you are dreaming, your mind goes into a panic and tries to get you to wake up.

I don't have such a severe reaction, but sometimes when I am dreaming, I realise that it is a dream because something in the dream isn't quite as it should be in waking life. Once I realise that I am dreaming I always want to wake up, even if it's not really a bad dream.

Maybe that's something about lucid dreaming - that your conscious mind has a very strong urge to stay awake, which is why your dreams are lucid in the first place.

If this is bothering you a lot, you might consider seeing a counselor.

wow, sounds kinda like my dreams. I usually wake up with a really fast pace heartbeat and sometimes sweating..my father has out of body exps' where he wakes up and will be kicking, punching, etc...

When you experience the sounds and the darkness try to open your eyes. You may have entered the 5th dimension and are having an out of body experience. This is better than a lucid dream. Just ask to speak to a higher power and get all you can out of this sort of dreamstate!

I feel, taste and smell things in lucid dreams. So I always try and make the best of it, but it only works for a few moments and then I wake up. I can never make it last.
