First time I had a lucid dream was about 2 days after I researched it. It wasnt on purpose, but the concept was in my mind. I never reminded myself that I was awake throughout the day. The night after I researched it, I went to sleep just reminding myself I would remember my dream the morning after. Mid dream , my cat awoke me, but I was so involveed in my dream that I focused on going back to it while I drifted back to sleep. I found I knew what I wanted to do in the dream, and would have probably accomplished it if the cat hadnt begun to be such a disturbance

. When I woke up i was so in awe. I have never controlled my dreams before that night , and I didnt really think it would work. I think you have to have it some where planted in your subconcious. It was great though. Im still new to this, but I would suggest, concentrating hard on a scenery as you fall asleep. I mean you should still be thinking about it up until the second u fall asleep so maybe that will lead u into a lucid dream. And a I'd also suggest for a first time that you not be overly tired, when really sleepy you tend to sleep too deep I think for lucid dreams to occur. Hope I helped
