annquilter is on the dream path to enlightenment
Default What do you think this means?

You know what? Its odd b/c I usually don't remember my dreams. I had a crazy dream last night and just this morning was recounting it to *. I was on a large sailboat, like a schooner, but also like an old-fashioned cruiseliner w/many passengers. It was like in the late 1800's. I was the guardian of a young royal man, like in his early 20's I suppose, he kinda looked royal, like Prince William or my cousin *, but skinnier. The whole time we're on this journey to I don't know where I am frantic everytime I lose sight of him, but then I always find him. The main feeling I have is: He's my responsibility but somehow I keep "losing" him, and I am mad at myself for it. Then I am standing at the bow holding on to this large book-pages open, other people are seated in wooden benches, kinda like church pews, and I see this huge wave coming at us... the first thing I think is g*ddamit where is that kid? and the wave just comes over the boat, not too bad..but then I look again and people are running and screaming and now its a humongous wave, and another behind it, and I'm thinking, this is it I'm dead... and sure enough the wave overtakes the boat and I'm under, holding onto this book for dear life, and then all of a sudden I'm on dry land, sand, the book is miraculously undamaged, and I see members of a circus troupe setting up a small tent and practising their show, in colorful costumes, like a Toulouse-Lautrec poster. My feet feel wobbly on dry land. Then I see the "prince" is just fine, and has been transferred to another guardian. I am so relieved and happy, he's OK, and not my worry anymore. Dream ends.

Hi, and Welcome!

What I think the dream could mean, at least on one level, is the burden of responsibility and feeling overwhelmed by it.

The second half where you end up on dry land and clutching the book indicates that you know, subconsciously, the answer to relieving yourself part of that responsibility.
