I dreamed that a crow or raven pecked through some mesh covering a small window space (in a larger window) and it flew into the room. My husband, daughter and dog ran out of the room, but I put my head under the covers for a moment. Another crow or raven entered the room and they both landed on my bed beside me where they stayed. I was a little afraid but didn't scream or try to run away. My family came back in and saw me with the crows/ravens

What could this mean?

What I get from the dream is there may be something in your sub-conscious mind that is trying to communicate with your conscious. The way the birds broke in and settled next to you may mean that you are probably by now aware of what the problem or issue is. What do you think your family will do or say about the issue?

In the dream, the bedroom was unknown to me and the position of the bed not at all like the room I have now nor the previous house; the birds coming in were quite forceful; there may have even been something violent about their entrance, especially the first one. I hid my head at first because when I was young, a bird got caught in my ponytail and pecked the back of my neck until it bled, in its efforts to get free...so I don't like birds or bats flying too close to me.

I know that crows or ravens seem to mean something either bad - or at least negative - about to happen or surfacing from the subconscious. However, I really like crows, ravens, jackdaws etc. They are beautiful, powerful birds; they are intelligent, fearless and they seem to see everything.

When they were on the bed, they had settled next to me and were flexing their wings and looking around at everything. When the family came in, they just looked at them and me.

As an idea that they represent something from my unconscious trying to 'surface' or communicate, it is possible. There is a lot going on in my life right now - but anything I can think of, doesn't fit somehow. So I don't really know what it means. Perhaps in the coming days it will fall into place.

The way you see your dream characters and symbols is what's important. So maybe you are going through a stage in your life where you are finding more courage to be what you want to be. Something that was intimidating or frightening before (going by the hiding from the birds) to accepting them and they accepting you could mean that some thing in your past has been dealt with and it has made you stronger.

Thanks again for your feedback. There really could be something in what you say - and I can rationalise this with the kind of thinking about this subject from a western point of view. But my gut reaction isn't going with it yet and I probably have to wait a biit and see if I feel it. Somehow, I don't want the birds to be negative, but that again could be because I am quite a positive person!!!
