We're living at a time when gas and oil prices are extremely high and only the very wealthy can afford this now very scarce resource. Because of the staggering high prices, industries, especially ones that run on oil such as manufacturing and trucking, can no longer bring produce to the people.

For this reason, we are now reduced to eating our pets and dying loved ones. I'm sitting at a table with a group of strangers and someone brings us plates with body parts on them. My portion consists of a hand.

I proceed to cut into my "meal" when I decide, for reasons unknown, to go to my parents house. It is now winter and snow is on the ground and the front door has a lying leopard in front of it (dead or alive, I'm not sure). I don't want to take a chance of getting eaten myself and the back door is covered in snow. I bang on the window and then run to my car in case the wild cat hears me.

Maybe you're stressing about how high the gas prices are going and stressing over how you're going to continue to feed yourself (and your family?).
As to the part of going to your parents house and running back to your car in case the leopard heard you knocking, maybe you're thinking society is just eating you up or something along those lines?

Yeah, it's something like that. I think we're at a tipping point now. Things will get worse before they get a lot worse.

Do you mean the world is at a tipping point?

I don't know about "the world." But I suppose it's possible that another world war is on the horizon. Every continent will be involved. Some so-called experts like Michael Ruppert say we are at "peak oil," Which means governments know the oil reserves are running out and the oil fields are breaking apart because of erosion or overusage.

Another journalist named Greg Palast says the Peak Oil theory is just a scam to boost profits for the oil companies.

I'm more inclined to believe Palast and that the world's richest regimes are just evil men helping themselves to the trough at the expense of their citizenry. Afterall, governments sometimes create their own situations to start wars.
