The other night I had a dream which featured a really nasty girl I knew from high school.

In my dream she was again picking on me and listed all the reasons why I was a bad person.

Also in the dream was my very first love from high school. He took my hand and whilst he couldn't share my feelings I got the sense from this action that he was suggesting I was OK.

I did recognise at the time that the nasty girl was most likely my insecurites and thus didn't take what she said to heart.

Any thoughts?

I think you may be right about that. Your friend that was holding your hand was the other side of your conscious telling you that you are OK.
