Default Dustpan Crossing Guard

Dustpan Crossing Guard
7/30/2008

I was at the elementary school were I grew up and at the place were the crossing guard stood. There were two crossing guards and I was at the one that I did not cross at to get home.
There was a school bus driving down the street in front of the school and it was crossing the street in front of were the crossing guard worked. The bus was going the same direction as the kids that crossed there. I watched it pull out and looked carefully inside of it and saw there was a driver inside but know children and felt relieved. I picked up a red dust pan and proceeded to walk into the middle of the street and hold it up as if it were a stop sign, the same color and size as the stop signs that the crossing guards used.
It was large for a dustpan the same color as a stop sigh and when I looked back against the fence that kept the kindergarten kids in there was a yellow and green dustpan leaning up against the fence, the yellow one was the same color as the one my mom had when I was younger.
At first it seemed odd to me that I would be using a dust pan instead of a stop sign but I figured the drivers would all know what it meant anyway and even if they did not they would still have to stop because someone was in the cross walk. I then remembered that I used to work at the other crosswalk as a crossing guard and had always used a dust pan at that cross walk also and know one ever said are thought anything about it.

History: I have never worked as a crossing guard before.
There were two streets that had crossing guards at them at the school when I was growing up and I never crossed at that cross walk all the time I went to school there, I had always lived in the same house.
I am 45 year old male with a wife and 3 grown kids

Speculation:
1) This crosswalk would have been going the wrong way for me.
2) I once got into an altercation or argument with the crossing guard that worked there when I was younger
3) The dustpan is the focus of the dream
4) I do not think the school bus is of much significance.

Initial Interpretation: I have know idea what this is about.

Any ideas Thanks Bear

Hi and Welcome!

The dustpan was a stop sign. A dustpan collects debris for disgarding in the trash. If you put the stop sign and the dustpan together, what do you get? For example, one interpretation could be that you need to "stop" taking care of everyone elses "trash," or problems. Another interpretation could be that you need to "stop" thinking about the past because it's a "waste" of time.

That's how you could blend the two symbols together. And they seem to go together in this dream. It may be important to how the dustpan was used in addition to what may have been going on in your life then (while in school) that you can connect to what's going on now. For example, you may have run into someone you had a grudge against that goes back to school days.
