Default Spiders & Bats

I'm going to take a shower.
I see a spider sitting in the tub, it's a large, black, hairy spider.
I call my Mom in to kill it for me.
My Mom smashes it into little tiny pieces.
Then the pieces form into other little spiders.
We try killing these, and then they form into bats.
The bats are flying around in a swarm.
I feel the a rage take over my body (as it often does in the dreams I have with these bats in them).
I snarl and start ripping the bats apart with my fingernails.
My Mom is just standing there.
I look at my fingers and there is pieces of bat stuck under my nails.

Then I wake up.

Interesting. You ripped a bat apart in another dream. Try playing an association game with bats. One thing, bats have good vision in the dark. Does this remind you of anything in reality? Try it with other features as well and see if anything clicks.

When I think of bats, it kind of reminds me of something dark, something sinister.
I honestly don't know what it would be that would cause this to keep appearing in my dreams.
It seems in most of my dreams I battle with darkness though.
What do you think that could mean?

Battling with darkness? I can't remember if you've mentioned it before, but are you or where you brought up in a religious home? Do you attend church on a regular basis?

When I was going through a deconversion, I had a lot of dreams like that where it felt like I was "battling darkness." What it actually was was my own conscious trying to break out of old ways of thinking.

Yes, my Mom brought me up as a Christian but like a year ago I told her I had Pagan beliefs. Even though it technically went against her religion she was okay with it.

I don't really think that's the cause of these dreams, but then I don't know.
