Oh it's been a long time since I've posted my dreams here! Can't believe I made this account when I was just 14. Well, I had a dream last night and wanted to know what you think it means:

I am driving in a car with a friend of mine. We go over to my grandmothers house (whom I haven't spoken/seen in years! it is complicated..)

I step outside of the car and I go into her house. First my friend was with me, but in the next moment I am alone. It is really dark inside of the house - everything is closed off and hammered shut (the windows etc..). Even though I have this feeling inside which tells me I left this place behind, I suddenly see my dog lying on my grandmothers couch. He is really drowsy and not his usual, playfull self. Then my grandfather figure suddenly sits next to me and he says: You know how your grandmother is. We knew he was healthy and still young, but we put him to sleep a short moment ago. You can hug him if you want to, but he'll be dead in a few minutes.

I do not actually see my grandmother in my dream, but I know for a fact that she is in the kitchen, either busy cooking things or cleaning things again. I remember crying so hard over my dog. Nobody speaks to each other, other than the few lines my grandfather said to me. The is no light in the house other than a small ray of light entering the house through the kitchen window.

What could this dream mean? I really want to know what you think. Thanks a lot

Hi Rick. It's nice to hear from you again. I thought you were 15 when you made the account and that was how you got your screen name.

Even though you don't seem to want to discuss it on the message board (which is perfectly understandable) it seems to me that the dream has something to do with the relationship between you and your grandmother, or something that your grandmother or your relationship with her represents.

I think the most significant parts of the dream are the feelings of loneliness and being cut off - your friend disappearing, the windows in the house being hammered shut, etc. Dogs represent loyalty and companionship, so the impending death of your dog further emphasizes the sense of loneliness. You blame your grandmother for the death of your dog, that is for the loneliness and the isolation that you feel. The fact that the dog was healthy and young but your grandmother had him put down anyway means that you think everything that has been going on has been unnecessary and didn't really have to happen.

I think the small ray of light through the kitchen window is a sign of hope, that you think that there is a way to make the situation better. A kitchen can stand for warmth and nourishment.
