Hey, I had this dream the last night which kind of scared me. What is this dream about as the dream was so realistic, I could smell burning, dead bodies, heat as well as see everything as though it is really happening?

I was in my local town centre with my partner then suddenly this giant appeared and started terrorising the town by killing people and smashing buildings etc, me and my partner ran into this huge multi-storey car park with hundreds of others but the giant started to come inside. We ran out and got into a car with another man and a dog, we pulled over and this giant came alongside, I told "everyone to stay still but my partner let the dog out as it was barking, the giant chases it so she reversed the car and I am asking her why you let the dog go", she says "its to give us a chance to get away and he has sacrificed himself for us to escape". We drive for a bit but she crashes it, we get out of the car but we loose each other and next thing is I am with my parents, brother and sisters and 2 of our dogs. We are on standing at the top of some stairs in the town centre when the giant goes by with knocks me all the way down these stairs. I hit this old building at the bottom with scaffolding.

For some reason I act dead and my farther runs down to see if I am ok but whispers we will be at the top of the hill waiting. As I try to get up my legs are extremely painful and try to run up this hill. The guy who was in the car with us (my old boss) helps me up this hill, as I look back across the town this giant is coming straight for me, its getting closer and we just make it to the top but my family are not there. I collapse and my boss says I will take you, get on the back of my bike, just as I am about to get on his motor bike he rides off. The giant then comes along side my and I trip it up. Whilst its fallen I run past this house, around the back garden and gently close the gate so the giant doesn't hear me, I start jumping over small garden fences and on the 2nd or 3rd house I open the back door which is open and makes a ding dong sound, the house is a old council house with a photo of lassie on the small table so must be a old persons home. I go to the front window and pull back these window nettings and couldn't see anything..........then I wake up.

I think this dream means that there is something negative in your life that you want to get rid of, but you are afraid of what else you might have to sacrifice or of having the responsibility for taking any action.

In general, any type of monster in a dream can represent something negative in your life, often a negative quality that you have. The fact that the monster is a giant can mean that you feel that this negative quality has gotten too big to handle.

It's interesting that in the dream you get help from your father and your boss, both authority figures who can have a parental role. At the same time, you act dead and later collapse. This can be a sign that you don't want to take responsibility, that you want someone else to take care of you or to take care of your problem for you.

There are a lot of dogs in your dream. A dog can stand for your personal boundaries or represent loyalty. When your partner says that you have to sacrifice the dog, you may feel that you are going to have to give up an important part of yourself or betray yourself or someone else in order to achieve your goal of doing away with this negative influence in your life.

However, it seems that this is a mistake because your partner crashes the car anyway, so getting rid of the dog doesn't help.

And later, there are more dogs in your dream, first your family's 2 dogs, and then the picture of Lassie.

So you don't really have to give up that much.

Falling down stairs represents the doubts that you are having about all of this.

In the end, you get to where you need to go on your own, by jumping over fences, which is a sign that eventually you can get to where you want to be on your own.
