I do not remember much of my dream last night. It had to do with a baby and it was very fairy tale like and i was not the side you would be rooting for in the fairy tale. Atleast it felt that way ...

Anyway there was a part where i saw a huge scarab. It was golden brown and i was amazed by its legs and its size and was very curious about it. I remember in my dream trying to figure out what it was and identifying it as a scarab. I tried to catch it but it got away behind something like a fire place.

So i woke up feeling a little strange but had virtually forgotten about the beetle. All i remembered was the baby part of the dream. I went outside to smoke a ciggarrette and their on my door was a big golden brown beetle. The first thing i noticed was its legs and then the dream came back to me.

This beetle is like a mini version of the one in my dream. Its just made me very curious again and a little uneasy like someone is trying to tell me something. If you have any clues about the experience its self or more information about seeing dream symbols outside of dreams i would like to know.

How often do you see beetles like the one you saw on your door?

If they're common where you live, it's likely that your unconscious picked out an image of another, similar beetle that you had stored in your long-term memory, and chose that image to act as a symbol in your dream.

Beetles are very common insects. There are more species of beetle than any other animal in the world.

I would imagine that it would be hard for most people to distinguish between two beetles of the same species.

I do not know the last time i saw a beetle and the last time if ever i saw a beetle like this one was a long long time ago.

I do not think that is what is going on here.

I know its a possibility it is a coincidence but it does not feel that way.

What was the baby part of the dream about? What was it about the legs on the real beetle and the beetle in your dream? How did it relate to the baby?

Can you remember more details of what was happening around you in the dream when you tried to catch the beetle?

I am not sure of the baby part anymore or if it was the same dream. I just know I wanted the baby but it wasn't mine. I am bit sure of the details. It was more about the action and I didn't feel like the good guy.

Here are some more things I found interesting about my experience with the beetle and have gotten me thinking.

I went out another time a while later and the beetle was still there. There was some black stuff under him and around so I looked closer at him and he didn't look like he was moving. I touched him. Once because ivwas curious and once to see if he would move. He didn't. He was on a business card stuck to the door. I picked it up and tried to set him free hoping he was alive and stretched his legs out like he was saying goodbye to life. I tried pulling him off the card bit he was still holding on. I thought about putting it out of it's misery but I didn't. I left it there and went inside and it was gone.

I took a pic of it before i took it off the door. I just looked at the picture and it ws kind of strange. In the door for part of it you can see the reflection of the front of my house but then it's blocked by this weird blackness that looks like it is coming from the beetle. It looks too oregularly shaped to be shadow and I do not think it is my shadow as I think I was standing in a place that would not cast that shadow. There could be a perfectly good explanation for it. But it might be significant. In the dream I couldn't catch it but in life I touched it and it acted like it was dying. I would like any rational or spiritual answers. Anything that might help me see clearer.

Also ... I told my friend about it and he told me the story of jungs beetle. The sane thing pretty much happened to a patient of his. And nit with any animal. With a beetle. She had a dream about one and while she was telling it a beetle flew into the room. He created his theory of synchrpnicoty based on this incident. I dunno ... That's all the info I have. I need more. I was asking you how the beetle related to the other parts of the dream so that the details about the beetle might come back to you more clearly – the details of its colouring,any special markings, how it moved, what kind of sounds it made, etc. Since the dream beetle came back to you after you saw the real beetle, it’s possible that you changed your memory of the dream beetle to make it seem closer to the beetle on your door because you wanted the beetle on your door to have a special significance. So you might have forgotten the things about the dream beetle that made it different than the real beetle, or you may have added some things to your memory of the dream beetle to make them more alike.

I’m also curious where you live that you have not seen a beetle in a long time.

It would also help if you could post the photo so other people could see if the beetle matches your description of the dream scarab in your original post or if they could see if they can interpret what the "weird blackness" is.



What did the business card say?


Whatever the reason that you saw the beetle on your door, the fact that it made you focus on the scarab beetle in your dream means that the beetle was probably an important part of your dream. A scarab in a dream can mean that you are thinking about your own mortality. It can also stand for your ability to survive as things change around you.
