I love this guy friend of mine, who says he has feelings for me too, but we can't be together, because he is engaged to someone else in a long-term engagement he's been in for over ten years. They don't live in the same country, but he says he can never break that promise and has to marry her in a few months time. It's been really upsetting me.

Last night I dreamed this guy friend and I were together lying in bed just hugging - even though we have never been intimate - he was spooning me and being very loving, even though he's been a bit cold with me lately to try to help me get over it all and in the dream he was whispering softly in my ear that he just needed more time and kept saying to me "just give me more time".

Do you think this is wishful thinking on my behalf? Is it prophetic? Or does it say something about what he's really feeling?

He's never said anything else like this in real life, just that I need to move on since he is stuck in this situation.

I think it is wish-fulfillment.

What is going to happen in the future regarding the two of you depends upon your actions and his actions, so your dream can't predict the future in this case because you have control over the future.

Is it possible that once he is married and settled into his marriage you will fel more comfortable about the fact that he's married, and he won't feel the need to be so cold toward you and you can go back to being friends.
