Question My beloved "Granny"

Hi Guys! I am hoping that some of you may be able to shed some light on the same sort of dreams that I am having about my best friend, who happened to be my Granny who passed away abt 2 years ago. I will give you a brief history because it may be relevant. My grandmother and I had a very special relationship. This was not your normal grandmoher/grandaughter relationship. We were UNSEPERABLE! She was my TRUE best friend. We did everything together. She made it very clear that I was her "favorite" She was a beautiful woman in her mid 60's when she was diagnosed with lung cancer. It was really weird..I am not sure if I was in denial, or she was in denial, but we never discussed death. It wasnt an option. I was 24 at the time, and she would say "I am not going anywhere...you still owe me some great grandchildren." She did various rounds of chemo. No one had a clue she was dying of cancer if she didnt tell you she had the disease. She got up every day, put on her wig and makeup, and hit the streets. She had a very positive attitude the whole time and was sure a MIRACLE would happen. She would always say " I am not scared of dying, I am afraid of leaving you all behind." Well one day she got very ill and rushed her to the hospital. She died the next day in the arms of my mother, my sister, and I. As she was dying I starting to yell "NO GRANNY, NOOOO!! DONT GO!" And she started to come to her senses..my mom looked at me and said "tell her she can go, dont do this!" So I did. Ever since then I have the same sort of strange dreams. It is weird because no one else in the family dreams of her although they say they wish they did. These dreams are not happy dreams..They are very sad..I wake up with tears all over my pillow from crying. The dreams are always the same type: I see my granny from a distance and she is in her hospital robe with a turban on her bald head, but she looks BEAUTIFUL! And she is SMILING and waving and calling me to her. So I start running so fast and I am so happy. The closer I get the more excited she gets! And then when I get right up to her she either runs away, disappears, turns to dust..etc.etc. Any insight as to what this could mean would be GREATLY appreciated. I do not want to stop having these dreams..I love to see her in them, even though they make me sad. I would just like to know if they may mean anything. Thanks so much!

Hi and Welcome!

The sudden departure of her when you approach could be one of two things---you're not sure what to say to her when you do approach, or her ghost is telling you that you need to let go. Do one of these two scenarios resonate with you?

One thing you could try is the next time you dream of her and begin to approach, tell her to stay put. It may require some lucidity on your part, and maybe even some practice, but try anyway. When you do approach and even embrace, see what she has to say. It could prove to be an enlightening or liberating experience.

Good luck!
