Default recurring nightmare

I have had a recurring nightmare that has been going on for the last 6 years or so. Everytime it is somewhat different but the situation is very similar. It always starts where ever i am sleeping. The environment I fall asleep in is always in my dream. I then start to spin out of control at a random and slow rate while floating from my bed. I am completely paralyzed while doing so and become very nervous and try and try to move but I can't. I have had this dream so many times I know every time that it is a dream but I am powerless to change anything in it. This time though was more spooky than other times as I could make out shady ghost like figures in my dream. I could only make out if they were male or female. There were 3-4 of them but they would only come at me one at a time and i could only see one and didn't know about the others when they approached me. After a bit my dream completely changed into another dream (that I have never had) where I was visiting my friends in a different state. None of them were there and I was left alone. When my friend finally came home to her apartment She said it was late and I had to leave to go back home because she was going to goto bed. She said she didn't want me there when she was sleeping and I couldn't even wait for my other friend to come and get me.

This sounds a lot like sleep paralysis .

It is pretty common. The best thing you can do is to try to relax and remember that nothing bad is going to happen to you.

It is often caused by stress or lack of sleep, so trying to be more relaxed when you are awake can also help.

Sleep paralysis is sometimes followed by an out of body experience, which could explain the feeling of spinning while floating over your bed.

Sleeping would suggest a situation in which you could rest with complete peace of mind but also one in which you are completely without awareness. Because this dream keeps on repeating, there is something about such a situation which you have not yet understood; you have not gotten the dream’s message. If I have understood you correctly, the locations in which you find yourself sleeping cannot be identified as being ones that you know of in reality. If you associate the location as being only a ‘dream’ location, it would suggest that you might only be able to see yourself resting completely at ease about a situation in your own Dream World, that is, only when using much fantasy or imagination.

Floating from your bed can imply being taken up with God, being preoccupied with God. The spinning at a slow rate can suggest doing yourself a good turn when preoccupied with God – yet because more than one or three turns are indicated here, the good turn you do yourself is not really a positive one. You have lost control of yourself. You have lost the ability to make a move on your one behalf. (paralyzed) [Are you perhaps the type of person who needs to pray before doing anything? Do you make any decisions for yourself?]

The shady figures represent an aspect of yourself – one reflecting ideas or a way of thinking that lacks in intelligence (as shade occurs where no light falls) As the figures are ghost-like, they also suggest ideas that continue to haunt you and which should have been put to rest a long time ago. The way such an idea comes to you, makes it seem like a positive idea. (they come at me one at a time) As there are 3-4 of these figures, the idea or thinking involved may seem good and godly but it could also be seen as reflecting very worldly thinking, meaning it is not God’s way of thinking.

You may see yourself using the protection of thinking which could work in your favour (a friend’s home)- one which seems to emphasize the issue of the ‘state you are in’; meaning the emotional or psychological condition you are in. By visiting, it is implied that you would not really want to remain under this protection. Yet the thinking that should work in your favour is not here. (none of them were there) Put very simply, the aspect of yourself using a way of thinking you might assume works in your favour does nothing for the True Self. (as you are told to leave in a very inconsiderate manner) Using such thinking you appear to be emotionally focused on resting very at ease (friend going to bed) but the True Self is being ‘left out in the cold’. [Are you paying enough attention to your own inner feelings and instincts?]
