I was at a place I have never been before..It was unusual looking. I was standing with some other people, looking down below at this body of water of sorts. To describe this?? Well, if you could picture a mall where you are on the top floor looking down below a 15 ft drop or more. Now picture the entire mall that surrounds you, shrunken down to surround you with a 10 ft circumference. (It wasn't actually a "mall") but it's the best way I can describe what it looked like.

Now, if you look down, there weren't floors. It was water. Clear, deep water, with giant rocks, or I should say massive boulders. Again, very clear water. Like a deep point at a river where all the giant rocks are and the water pools. I do remember there being a couple small bridges. They were made of plywood, painted white and they weren't more than 3 ft wide. I had to go over and I remember them being rickety at the point where they would meet the landing. I felt uncertain on it. Someone I was with (don't know who) said, "Look it's Jenn, she's dead!" So, I looked down and the water was crystal clear. At the bottom of the rocky pool of water was a friend of mine. She was under the water, on her back, dead with her eyes WIDE OPEN. It was like she was looking directly at me, but she was dead. She had dead eyes. (and I'd like to just take a second here and say, lucky for me, until this moment anyway, I have never looked into the eyes of a dead person. Least of all someone I know.) It was EXTREMELY disturbing.
Another strong point here is that: My friend is NOT DEAD!! I have not seen or heard from her in a long time. She was a high school friend and I am 39 now. I ran into her about 2 yrs ago but, my point is, I don't mind. I don't really see anyone from those days. (High school days)

WHY on earth, would I dream of seeing someone I know, who IS NOT even dead, dead , drowned under the clear, very clear water, with her eyes WIDE open looking at me? One more small tidbit I remember, someone I knew in the dream (and they looked familiar to me when I awoke, but I don't know who they are.) Well, this guy jumped into the water, landing on the giant rock. It was on an angle. It had to be almost 15 ft rock. He landed so hard, I remember asking him, if he broke his legs. He got up and said no, but he was going to go check on Jenn. I remember once he landed how would he ever get back up here???
Then I woke up around this point.

I can understand that you find this dream disturbing, and I was wondering about if you where scared that this person would really pass away.
Usually in dreams its all very symbolic, I wanted to say that because sometimes dreams like this scare people a lot, making them think that something will happen to the person that it is about.

I am not someone that can give good dream interpretations at all, I am not good at that. But it seems that in a lot of dreams, seeing a death person has to do with past and memories. A situation that is 'death' (long ago), or a personal friendship that is 'death'.. etc.
Long forgotten things, buried in the memory banks somewhere.
Water often seems to have something to do with the feelings around this memory. Did the water feel clear and good to you, did it feel.. like a place of seperation/isolation, how did it feel?
You can ask yourself this, with every dreamsymbol in there. It might give you clearity.
So look, for yourself at the feeling and the meaning of water, of her eyes, etc.
You can also try looking at every aspect in the dream as a part of yourself. She is you, the water is you, the man is you, the feelings around it is you/are yours etc. It is all a look into your own mind and heart.

Sorry if its a bit vague, as I said I am not a dream interpretor, but this dream caught my attention a bit. I hope that even though its vague, you will find something in it of use.
And probably someone else here with more skills will reply too good luck with your dream. In my eyes its actually a very beautiful and symbolic one, beautiful dream symbolism.

I'm not a professional interpreter either; but if this was my dream what I would be picking up on is your description of Jenn as a "high school friend." You'd be about 20 years out of high school; and know a great deal better than I do how your life has changed. What is it that has (at least seemingly) "died" within you that Jenn might represent?
39 was not an easy age for me. It's those late thirties when many people start realizing that those hopes and ambitions of youth just aren't going to happen. (And we don't stop to consider that what has happened may actually have been better). How are you different than what you expected to be back then?
Give it some thought, and see if it helps. And, by the way, don't take dream death too seriously. Unlike here in the waking world, it's often temporary.

I have dreams about that type of pool also, often indoors with a ledge around it as you describe it. Usually I think of it as being like desire, our emotional substrate. And I thought of dead things in the pool as being like suppressed thoughts, or thoughts or hopes that died and are gone from our visible world for now. I've seen dolls at the bottom of the pool. I guess that parts of all of us are drowned in despair, in one way or another.

Now that you mention it, I'm thinking that there's another opposite way to look at this dream also. We're like angels on the ledge, and in the water when we're "alive" in our world. Jumping down to the rock is like the shock of 'falling' to this state.

Obviously, my take here is going to make no sense to you if you don't tend to think about those kinds of things in that way, but I hope that helps. I'd been thinking for a few days that I've been viewing some of my dreams backwards, but your dream makes the connection with the pool in a helpful way.

One other thing maybe I should mention....I did dream of a body floating in a pool once, and many years later an acquaintance was found drowned in the same kind of setting. One reason this bothered me is I could see he was in trouble in the days leading up to his death, but I didn't understand how or how close it was, and I probably did the wrong things to try to help. So although your friend is probably fine, it might not hurt to reach out to her, either internally or in person.
