So I had this strange dream last night and I am looking for whatever input I can as to what it meant.

The first thing I can recall is being with a group of people that I vaguely know in some random building. I got a very strong sentiment that we weren't supposed to be there, I believe because there was some sort of armed conflict taking place and I somehow knew the 'enemy' was en route. Let me clarify, my group and I were not part of any army or conflict, we were just civilians in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Anyhow, it became apparent that these enemy soldiers had entered the building, and my group started to run. We were trying to get away, but there was no escape so people attempted to 'hide', but there was also not much of a hiding spot. We were just hiding behind a counter in a room with a bunch of windows. When the enemy entered the room, I decided I was going to take a chance and make a run for it, so I hopped out the window onto a roof, and started running. An enemy soldier jumped out and started after me.

We were in a city and so I was jumping from roof to roof. About 1000 feet ahead of me there was a river. I figured if I could get to the river/lake I would be safe because I could get underwater where they couldn't see me. And I also figured it was very doable because the roofs were covered in vertical spikes, which I could bare because I had shoes on, but the guy chasing me did not. But despite the spikes and my confidence I would make it, the guy behind me kept gaining ground until he caught up to me and killed me - I could see the water in front of my as I died. A fire broke out right after that in the buildings on the opposite side of the river, and I was cursing my dead self thinking if I had ran a few seconds earlier or later I could have used the fire as a diversion - and it was also quite amazing to see the city burning to the ground (I think it was Paris).

The next thing I knew my group was sitting around being down in the dumps because I had died. They had been captured, and were going to have some rough times, but it was apparent they were going to live through them and move on in life. Whereas i was dead. And thats about the last thing I remember.

Sorry if this was all a bit long, but I think its the details that matter and I'm curious to know what anyone thinks of it!

Fascination dream!

Have you seen news lately from countries where rebels are fighting their despotic leaders? Reading about or seeing such events could trigger such dreams.

The conflict could be a personal one---an argument with a co-worker or someone in authority? This could also explain being chased by a soldier (someone with power over you).

You escape, but only temporarily before you die. Dying in dreams often represents giving up or leaving behind an old idea, job, career, or relationship.

Well, as a matter of fact I just got back from Israel a couple of weeks ago. I was there for ten days on Birthright - which is basically a program where you travel around the country with a group of forty 20 somethings on a bus for ten days. I figured that had a definite part in the oddities of the dream, but I still feel like there must be some sort of a deeper meaning than just reiterating in my mind the fact that I just got back form a trip. Good catch on that though.
