It sounds like you are under a lot of stress and the part of your brain that makes you feel anxious is working overtime. Sometimes too much stress and/or lack of sleep, bad diet, etc. can make it hard for the anxious part of you to shut down and for you to relax. It's normal to have hallucinations when you are just waking up; they can be made worse by stress and lack of sleep.
It's possible that this can also be a reaction to a trauma.
Are you taking any drugs or medications? Those might affect your sleep/dreams, too.
