Default Moving Without Leaving the House

I posted this in my dream journal, but had to share it because I'm curious what others think.
******************************

I'm back living with my family in the neighborhood where I grew up. We are moving, but not out of the same house. A forklift comes and lifts the house and drives it, with us still in it, to a new spot on the same street but up further; a spot nearer the road where another house once stood. While the house was being moved, I could feel the motion of movement.

"I like this new location" I say. I'm puzzled however how they managed to move the house without much difficulty or without any massive damage.

I go back to the original spot and the outside of the house is still here. I'm told that the inside is what was moved and this is just the shell; the protective cover that remains and must come off for the move.

Then I see the house as it is now in it's new location and it looks similar to the old outerside, but the features, such as the front steps, are shorter and less wide.

end

Sounds like a message that while it appears that something has changed or that you have changed, overall everything has remained the same. The idea that no matter where you go, you can't run away from yourself.

Can't run away from yourself - and why would you want to? - but you can find new perspectives.

"can't run away from yourself."

Interesting interpretation. I agree. It is like a change in life but not who you (I) am inside.

As I reflect on this, it seems to me that this is a sign that, though you may view the world in new perspectives, you are "at home with yourself."

The more I look at this dream, I think it may be more with my getting older and going through menopause. And my physical health isn't the best, for I suffer from debilitating arthritis and don't have health insurance.

I'm considering getting insurance so I can get that hip replacement I need, but it will cost a fortune, taking one paycheck a month.

So, I'm still me inside, but my body is much older.

In the neighborhood where I grew up, many houses were built along today's Wisconsin Avenue at about the turn of the 20th Century when the area was really a town in itself. As the area became more urban, then fully urban, and the avenue became a rush-hour nightmare, many of those houses were moved to side streets where they are occupied to this day. (I'm told that, then and now, this is an agonizingly slow procedure since power and phone lines have to be rerouted; and streets are closed for days on end. A lot to be said for dream forklifts.) So it makes sense to see this as "same old me, moving as the times change, but (since the shell of the old house remains) not leaving my past behind."
Those new steps might also point to easier walking and stair climbing. A new hip is not necessarily a new Sweet Slumber - and stands to make her "house" easier to live in.
