Years ago, I had an unusually vivid and memorable dream that has haunted me ever since. My wife and I were in a church or tabernacle (we’re not religious and do not attend church services) watching a service. A light brown skinned female got up to sing. She was stunningly beautiful, with dark black eyes, black hair, and was wearing a grey robe with a hood. Somehow I knew that she was the “toner.” I have no idea what a “toner” is but, in my dream, that is what she was called. The toner sang a single note (a tone, hence “toner”?) of such incredible beauty and clarity that it was almost impossible to stand. The only disturbing thing about the toner was that she had vampire like fangs. But there was nothing menacing about her…rather she exuded a calm, radiant power….

The dream then shifts to a bathroom. I am using the urinal (unsavory details but it was part of the dream) when a man jumped out of the bathroom stall and started strangling me from behind with an orange extension cord. The extension cord stands out strongly in my mind. I struggled with the man, managing to turn us so that his back was to the mirror. I started ramming him against the mirror and his head hit the corner. He let go of his strangle attempt and fell to the floor, blood spewing from his head. His blood got all over my hands and face and I suddenly became worried that maybe he had HIV or some other blood borne illness and would infect me if it got in my eyes. I looked in the mirror and saw a tiny speck of blood in my left eye.
At that point, I awoke startled. The dream was so real that I ran to the bathroom and looked in the mirror…and there was blood in my left eye. Apparently during the night I had had an allergy attack and the sneezing caused me to rupture a blood vessel in my left eye.

My eye cleared up in a few days and everything was fine. But I’ve never been able to shake that dream and the startling correspondence between the blood in my eye in the dream and my ruptured blood vessel in real life…
Anyone have any thoughts or had dreams similar to this?

I wonder if the second part of the dream was unrelated to the first and was triggered by the allergy attack.

I'm confused how you could have an allergy attack why you were sleeping. Wouldn't whatever it was that you are allergic to have bothered you before you fell asleep?

The second part of the dream sounds like it could be related to the allergy

urination - your body is getting rid of toxic substances - with an allergy, your immune system is responding to a substance as though it were a poison

man strangling you - allergy affects breathing

worry about getting infection in your eye - allergic reaction in your eye (to prevent "infection" by the allergen)

For the first part of the dream, the "toner" makes me think of the following things - harmony, a need for attention (maybe to draw attention to a problem), hidden strength (fangs that she doesn't use).

I also thought of copier toner.

Interesting observations, Marcia, thanks. I was a little unclear about the allergy attacks. It happened earlier in the night. I woke up with a ferocious coughing and sneezing fit, then it passed and I went back to sleep. I had the dream after going back to sleep.
