So I had a very strange, vivid dream this morning when I fell back asleep for an hour after my alarm went off! ><

I was walking in a field. It was daylight but sort of misty, and the grass in the field was all dewwy and overgrown. In the middle of the field were three dead trees, with branches which drooped to the ground. My friend was sitting by one fiddling with it, and so I walked over to see what she was doing. I then realised that in each tree was a lead that I used for my dog, who died a couple of years ago and was very special to me. They were tangled in the tree, and my friend was sitting in the grass trying to get it out. I asked her what she was doing, and she wouldn't give me a straight answer, she was more like "Come on, get them out the trees". I got a little weirded out so I left the field.
What happened next was REALLY odd. I switched from being in the field to wandering around the streets of the place I lived as a young child. I was following two other people, but I can't for the life of me remember what they looked like/who they were. All I know is it was a guy and a girl. I tried asking them what had just happened but they wouldn't give me an answer either, just kept saying "come on we havn't much time, keep up". I then looked and saw the street sign to the road we were walking down, and it said "ARROGANCE ROAD". And this really got to me, and suddenly I had this weird feeling that I HAD to be back with my friend, and help untangle the old leads. So I turned and ran back, and the mist started setting in and when it cleared I was back in the field. Except this time my friend wasn't there, just the three trees with a lead in each. I tried to untangle one but I woke up before I could get it loose.
This dream was SO VIVID. It felt so real and yet surreal at the same time. I've never experienced anything like it before. But I can't understand it at all. Does anyone have any ideas?

I think this dream has to do with a conflict between a need for you to get away from negative things in your past and a feeling that you can't, or shouldn't do this.

The first part of the dream involves dead things. There are the dead trees and the leads for your dog, who is also dead. I think the leads being tangled have to do with being "tangled up" in the past. Your leaving has to do with you realizing that you need to move on. (The friend could represent a part of you that is holding on to negative things from your past and the incidnet could represent a conflict you are having withing yourself.)

Going back to where you lived as a child also has to do with being stuck int the past. The guy and the girl saying "Keep up" is another message that you need to move on.

The ARROGANCE ROAD sign could have to do with feeling guilt about this - you are arrogant if you think you can just walk away from who you are, and your past is who you are.

This is why you feel you have to go back and deal with the problems from your past (untangle the leads).

Regarding the vividness, this could be because what the dream is trying to tell you is important.

It's also usual to have your most vivid dreams early in the morning; it has to do with periods of REM sleep getting longer as the night moves on.
