On the weekend I had a dream that I was directing (I direct plays in my waking life) a version of Romeo and Juliet.

The thing is I was only kinda half directing it - I'd only attended one or two rehearsals and had relied on someone else to string it together.

In one of the roles I had cast the new Pope but was concerned at his ability to fulfill his part as due to his busy schedule he'd not been able to attend rehearsals.

The first night did not go well - it was kinda like the Baz Lurhman version which I didn't like at all.

The second night hoever was sold out.

I remember going back stage via the front curtain (a big no / no and something I never do) before the show to talk with the cast.

At the back of the stage was a large hole in the floorboards. I recall thinking I must cover it up so no-one falls through. I didn't fix it but made a mental note of it - I continued on my way to the dressing rooms. (the hole wasn't on the actual stage but behind the back curtain / backdrop)

There was more to the dream but that was the clearest part of it.

I can't help but think the hole is the important part of the dream.

The hole sounds like a problem that you need to fix.

I often have dreams like this, I'm in a play but unrehearsed and late getting there. For me, these dreams mean I'm feeling insecure about something and fear not reaching my goals. I had this dream a few times while still in community college. I'm sure I'll have more as I persue trying to find a job in my new career.

That's interesting. Many people have similar dreams about school, being late to school, not being prepared for an exam, etc. Sweetslumber, are you also involved with plays in real life? Something that you are familiar with in real life would be likely to be involved in the symbolism in your dreams.

I have been in a couple of plays. They were in an Introduction to Theater class through adult education. That was many years ago. Fortunetly, the plays were successful, unlike the ones in my dreams.

I think people who have school anxiety dreams are usually adults who left school a long time ago, so it's the same principle
