I had the following disturbing dream some time ago. It started out with me looking into a small room (like a hotel or motel room) from above. It was like I was watching from the corner of the ceiling. That was the vantage point from which I witnessed the event throughout the dream.
Here's what I saw. A man and woman were on a single bed in the corner of the room. The man was behind the woman, who was on all-fours. The man was beating the woman with his right hand on the right side of her abdomen, like in her ribs. He did so for quite some time. I don't know if he had something sharp in his hand or not but at some point there was a large gash in the woman's side where he was beating her. I remember seeing blood splash onto the wall next to the bed. I actually said "gross" to myself in the dream. And I remember the blood being so red and real. The entire dream was so real, like I was witnessing an actual event.
He then stopped beating her and stuck his right hand in the woman's wound and got his hand all bloody. Lastly, and sickeningly, the man used his bloody wet hand to lubricate the woman from behind and then raped her.
That's when I woke up totally disgusted. I was sickened like I never had been by a dream. I didn't know who the people were in the dream. I actually never even saw their faces.

Other than thinking that it was gross, did you identify more with the man or the woman in your dream? (This doesn't really have to do with what your sex is in real life.) Depending on your point of view, the dream could either be about attacking and overcoming a problem (the viewpoint of the man in the dream) or about feeling you have no control over something that is happening to you (the viewpoint of the woman in the dream).

I didn't identify with either particularly. I was a detached observer as far as I could tell. I had no specific feelings for the woman and I had no positive or negative feelings for the man. I just watched and ended up being disgusted in the end.
I don't know what I expect dreams to mean, but I have a hard time believing that a dream like this would signify that I have a problem to fix or that I feel out of control. I was neither of the people and I identified with neither of them.
Do most people on this board think dreams most often have a meaning? Sometimes it seems to me that they don't. They are just fascinating.

I don't think they have a meaning in the sense that they are giving you advice or that they tell you what will happen. Just that there must be a reason why you dreamed what you dreamed, and sometimes it can be interesting, or even helpful, to try to find out the reason. Even if it's just neurons randomly firing, as some people believe, there is still a reason why they would appear to you as a particular image, sound, smell, etc.

P.S. Since the forum is called "Your Dream Interpretation", I assumed that people who post dreams want their dreams interpreted. But it is OK to post dreams just because they're interesting.

Thank you for your interpretation. I do think it is interesting to attempt to find meaning in dreams because I also believe that there has to be some rhyme or reason to it all, especially when certain themes arise repeatedly and at certain points in one's life. I just think that some may have less meaning or may be less applicable to one's life than others. Thanks again.
