A couple of nights ago I had this snippet I remember:

I'm in a classroom helping the teacher with a group of students. It was a special day for them, a field trip and other projects. At one point, we are watching a cartoon on a big computer screen. The scenes were quite graphic. A superhero in a helmet catches a bullet in his mouth. Now the head with the bullet is flying through space when the bullet explodes, causing the hero to lose the back of his head and brain matter. At this point, I'm beginning to awaken, but not fully awake when a thought comes: If you bite the bullet, make sure it won't explode in your mouth. End.

I took that as a warning of some kind. The expression "bite the bullet" means to bravely face danger or an unpleasant situation. But of course in dreams, it could be a metaphor or representation of something else. Something sexual? Something pertaining to speaking the wrong words? Looking before you (I) leap?

The possibilities you thought of all sound good. Can you think of how any of them could relate to your waking life in any way?

I can't think of anything specific that the idiom pertains to in my waking reality. I think it expresses my uncertainty of the future in changing jobs and the stability and security (or lack thereof) that changing jobs may present. If I had to guess, I feel the saying goes back to some old issues of insecurity.

It does seem to me that the dream involves facing up to an unpleasant situation. The fact that the superhero injures himself, but you know how to avoid injury, "don't let the bullet explode in your mouth", implies that you want to deal with this situation in a cautious manner.

Should you be questioning "why" the change of jobs at this point? Is it something you have to do, or something that just needs to be done because partner/spouse is moving to a new location and you have chosen that path - and it feels as if you are not in control of your own destiny?

Insecurity from childhood tends to lean long into our adulthood. We can be on top of everything after working so very hard to become secure, and the slightest bump on our hill, and we tumble down into our old feelings. I would even go so far as to say that these very feelings sometimes can lead to anxiety attacks.

I recently completed two years of community college in the field of special education. I'm currently working in a factory and am looking for a job in a school district or private school this fall. I'm not sure if its what I want to do, so I think that is where the insecurity and cautiousness comes in.

It would be natural to feel insecure and want to be cautious in your situation. I think you will make the right decision, though.
