Dream with disturbing imagery last night:

I'm with my sister and we drive up to a house where there is a bird coup and next to it is a huge mailbox that resembles a trash bin. I put something in it (don't recall what it was) and then we head down the road. In the road are several dogs. The dogs are the pure-bred breed Irish Setters. Some of the dogs have been run over. Their body parts are still in the road, sqashed with blood and entrails. The surviving Setters are lying down next to the broken bodies, seeming sad as in mourning.

I'm stumped as to what this could be about!

Sounds like it might have something to do with messages that perhaps are not getting through to you in the normal way; partly because of the mailbox bit not being a proper mailbox but a trash can. Also, I don't know if you are aware of this, but people used to use animal entrails to read messages about the future - if you didn't know that it could mean something else entirely. Are you particularly fond of that type of dog? Dogs are associated with loyalty and life-long friendship, so it could be that you are unconsciously examining a friendship or friendships, looking deep inside them. Sounds kind of yucky as an image, seeing the guts of dogs, but the subconscious doesn't always see things the same way - it's more likely that it's trying to get you to look inside whatever it is that these dogs (or any dogs) mean to you, which for most people is a loyal companion.

I too view dogs a loyal companions. I'm not sure why I chose that particular breed, but they do have very silky coats!

I sense you've no more put aside some of your own problems, [the trash can] when you come across people you know who have worse problems [the broken, bleeding dogs]. Still some of the remaining dogs are showing their loyalty to these "broken" friends.

It would be very interesting to know what is going on around you in your circle of friends.

Actually, I think I had this dream the same night I heard a news report about a man here in the U.S. who was running for congress. He stated that a lot of soldiers who go home on leave actually want to go back to Iraq to be with thier fellow commrades. It's like a brotherhood to them and they feel that their buddies need them.

I feel this explains to a great extent the symbolism behind the dogs in the road. The "dogs" are staying with their fallen commrades, the "dead dogs." There was also a film several years ago called, "The Dogs of War."
