Also it's very common that your unconscious, dreaming mind will make no distinction between people that have died and those that are still alive. Dreams are all about images, symbols and their attached emotions – so if your mind wants you to feel how you would feel if you were talking to your mother for instance, it will always use the image of your mother for those situations. It could be anyone though, even people that are famous that you don’t actually know. In this case though obviously your family were the only ones that would fit the bill for what your dream wanted to portray, possibly because your unconscious mind felt that you were lacking the opportunity in waking life that other people get to experience. Very often I will have dreams with my grandparents in them, not realising until I wake up that they are no longer alive – it’s usually a very positive thing for me, less disappointing that they are no longer alive than it is uplifting that I got to see them again.
