Default Dream about games?

Hi i am new to the forums just like to say hi and need help why this happens.

I find it hard to sleep at night for some reason but when i do actualy get to sleep all i dream about is computer games, i play computer games nearly everyday, but why do i dream about them, but the funny thing is it's mainly one game and thats Grand Theft Auto Vice city, i have not played that game for 1 year and since then i have the same dream at the same place every night, it is at night time i am on a motorbike and i am going up some steps riding down and hitting a ledge and going flying off for no reason, and it keeps going over and over again in my dream and wont stop, and also while im here, Have any of you caught yourself dreaming, my dad said he did once, and it was not a pleasent feeling he said that he was doing his work as usual and that he was going to the next house to help out his friends, and then he went there and they was not there, he went back out and checked the house number and it was the right house, so he was walking down the street checking to see if they moved and he looked up and the sky was black and he goes in his dream HANG ON A MINUITE I MUST BE DREAMING he then all of a sudden felt like being sucked out of his dream and woke up, he said he actualy felt like beinh sucked and moving like his mind was a vacum sucking him up into it, i want to know why and how we would dream this, and btw this is like 16 years ago for my dad and he still remembers it as clear as day!

It is only natural that if you play computer games alot, they are going to be a part of your dreams. I think there was another thread on here about dreaming about computer games. You can try doing a search for it.

If you are having a lot of trouble getting to sleep at night, you might want to speak to a doctor about it.

The repeating dream about flying off the motorbike could have to do with your feeling that you don't have control over something.

Knowing that you are dreaming while you are dreaming is called lucid dreaming. It is relatively common. Actually, I don't know what percentage of people dream lucidly, but enough that if you had lucid dreams nobody would think you were odd or there was anything wrong with you. This website has a section on lucid dreaming.

I'm not sure why your dad thought the feeling was unpleasant or why being woken up was unpleasant, though. I think most people who lucid dream enjoy it because they feel it gives them more control over their dreams. There are even people who say they can teach you how to have lucid dreams. I don't know if they can, but it implies that people who don't have lucid dreams want to have them, so they must think that they're a good thing to have.
