We were up in a hot air balloon, not very high and were throwing stuff out trying to stay up

It might be that you feel things in life are holding you down, that you have quite a bit of excess baggage you need to let go of before you can soar and be spritually free.

I'm not sure about the number, that could mean anything at all depending on you. The dictionary says this about numbers:

A hot air balloon can represent one’s ability to imagine or fantasize and live above reality (off the ground). It may be associated with a feeling of being a “basket case” – not able to cope. Such a feeling can lead one to resort to living in fantasy. The low altitude can imply that you see imagination or fantasy as not reaching a high level of intelligence. The scene suggests you may need to throw out ideas (the stuff) which are tending to restrict you to just reality as the aim here is to stay up – to keep the imagination or the fantasy going. Note that the not very high balloon implies you have probably not lost sight of the ground or reality. The hot air balloon is particular for being filled with hot air or a lighter than air gas – both implying that the imagination or fantasy being used is done with a superior form of consciousness (air) which can work in God’s direction (as such a balloon takes one up).

When numbers cannot be associated with anything in particular (and even when they can be), one method of dealing with them is to reduce them to a single digit by addition. Thus 720 can be viewed as 7 + 2 + o = 9. The number 9 would refer to the power of God (as 3 x 3 = 9) God’s power comes via being able to convert his “ideas” (or imagined ideas) into reality – give them a physical form. Note how this idea does seem to work well with the hot air balloon. An idea imagined cannot be realized if it is given up on too soon.
