Hawkeye is on the dream path to enlightenment
Default New member - Could use an opinion on this dream

I'm a new member and could use an opinion on this dream.

In my dream I was being forced to take a business trip with no preparation. I had no baggage, no coat, no money and I didn’t know the purpose of the trip. Yet, the people that I was traveling with kept encouraging me along. At one point I had to go to the bathroom. I fell asleep sitting on the toilet and when I woke up I had been pulling these long, hard stools from myself. As I awoke (in the dream) I realized that the stool had gotten all over my hands. Then I realized that I’d been itching my nose and the stool had gotten on my face as well. I eventually cleaned myself up and continued on the trip. However, at each stop in the process (security check in the airport, baggage claim, picking up the rental car, etc.) I would remember one more thing that I hadn’t brought along on the trip. Eventually, either within this dream or a separate dream that followed the first, I realized that I was having trouble breathing. So, I pulled out my handkerchief and began to blow my nose. From my left nostril I exhaled and pulled out a huge blob of mucous.

Upon awaking from these dreams, I had nasty diarrhea and very blocked nose. Do you think that the dreams were speaking to my physical health or are they symbolic, with my body reacting to the dreams?

Thanks in advance!

Hi, This is what the dictionary says about the stool part:

This dream may represent healthy psychological progress. It may indicate that you are cleansing yourself of unnecessary and possibly hurtful attitudes, ideas, and emotions. At times, and depending on the details of the dream, faeces could represent a contaminated area of your life, mind, or spirit. Look at the details and consider if the image of faeces is in regard to something that you have been trying to clean or if it brings up stress provoking thoughts, confusion, and difficult and unresolved areas of your life. In some cultures people believe that if you are dreaming about faeces you will soon prosper financially.
Also any kind of travel is often representative of your journey through life and planes in particular are often connected with your deeper thoughts, or thoughts from quite far in the past because we normally use planes to travel a long way.

Having said that, if you really are ill in waking life like you say then this could well be a major element in the dream.

The part about not being prepared is also a common dream theme. It represents an anxiety about some upcoming event in your life that will either happen or could happen that you need to be more prepared for. You need to gain more confidence and get the task done.

I appreciate you folks responding to my post.

Dreams are something that have always interested me and frightened me at the same time. I've kept a dream journal from time to time, but recently have not. Actually, it's rare that I remember a dream if I'm not using my journal. And this is a time in my life where I'm not keeping one.

Just to fill in a few blanks (since you cared enough to respond I feel I should give you some details). I'm in one of those MAJOR life changing cycles. I've just changed jobs to one of great responsibility. I've correspondingly encountered great financial hardship. I've just been through some very scarry health issues that did resolve as not as serious as they could have been. Lastly, my marriage is very shakey.

So, all that said, I'll re-start my dream journal and start to journal my day to day life so that I can compare and contrast.

Thanks again for the input and I'll keep you all posted!

Hawkeye
