Meeting yourself in a dream
Hello all
I'm new to the board so I thought I'd say Hi. I'm 29 years old, an armature dream interpretation enthusiast. Dreams have been a guiding light for me through some dark times in life, when the path ahead just seems lost. No matter how much I learn or experience, I always understand a lot more when I discuss a topic with others. That's why I'm here!
As you can guess from the subject line, I'd to hear some opinions about this dream symbol: one's own Self.
Lately I've had a series of dreams where I encounter myself as one of the people in my dream. The situation varies, as does the age of myself in the dream, but at this point it is a recurring theme. I'm sure others must have had a similar dream experience, and I'd like to hear opinions on the matter before recounting the particulars of my own dreams.
Any takers?

Hi, I can honestly say I've never had that dream. This is just a guess, but I'd say that maybe since you dream about yourself at different ages, it has to do with the past. Like, maybe you've been thinking a lot about your past, or for some reason something that happened to you at that age has become important now. If you're dreaming about yourself at your current age, maybe it has to do with how other people see you. Does that make any sense?

It could be something really obvious like you're not listening to yourself enough in waking life, following your instincts and such?

Welcome aboard blackcat!
I can recall a few times when I've seen myself in dreams, either as an observer or as a younger me reliving some alternate past. I don't recall actually encountering myself in the classic sense, coming face to face with me, or having a conversation with myself, if that's what you mean.
I look forward to reading your dream.

Could there be anything special about the time in which you were at the age of the younger self you met? Whether it was something personal that was happening to you, or just something that was going on in the world at that time.

I was just on a quest to see if I could get that same question answered. Google lead me here. I keep thinking about this strange dream I had of (now) me running into (then, maybe 20 yrs ago) me. I wish I could remember the conversation we had. I have recently been entertaining some old pleasant memories of someone. But it is not like I would go back, even if I could, to change anything because that would change everything. And I am surprised that, if that be the reason, the dream wouldn't include that person in the memories. I have had the dreams of people from my distant past and people who have passed and are suddenly sitting next to you. And even of people I don't even know. But this is the first time to dream of (now) me running into (then) me. Just seemed so strange.

I have a lot of dreams where I go back to the 1970s, when I was a child, and in the early 1990s when I was an art student, just to explore the local area to see what it was really like and how it compares to my memories. I'm kind of obssessed with time travel, but I think it's quite a common thought/dream to have anyway as you get older. Sometimes it's just really nice.

I believe there will be a time where you will have to face reality with yourself and realize that you will have to accept the new changes of youg life. This is the reflection of how you've seen yourself. REmember the emotions...where you scared to see yourself? If so, don't be afraid to express yourself; that's who you are. Don't worry about what ppl say on the outside of your mind. Your thoughts belong to you not them. HOpe that helps!
