the past couple of nights I have been having a lot of really strange dreams. some are me with someone i love, though not someone i know, like a new relationship but like a year from now where i am totally in love with this person...

the two that have me really concerned,,,,
---there was a lot of other stuff going on in the dream, like connecting with old friends, from my college or high school days, this seems recurring...but in the first, my great aunt was there, she passed on at least 20 years ago. it was really strange she didn't say anything or even look like her but i knew it was her. i thought of telling her everything that was going on with the family but remember thinking she already knows, she watches us all the time. she kept waving to me, but i turned and ended up with my old friends, who i never see anymore...

--the next night, my dream was of me and my childhood best friend. she passed about 5 years ago. (when she passed we were no longer in contact but i took it very hard because growing up we were like sisters) anyway, in the dream, we were walking around town like we always did. she also didn't say anything to me, but kept gesturing, talking to me without words, like just telegraphing me her thoughts. i kept walking with her and then realized i couldn't go with her. i turned to walk away and when i looked back she was gone.

what does this mean???

Hi, It just occured to me that I, and a few others, have answered questions about these types of dreams before but I've never added it to the dream dictionary, so I just added this now:

and if you factor that in with the entry for people, as dead people are usually used the same way as other people in your life by your subconscious - to represent however you feel about them, you might be able to figure something out:

I guess I just still don't understand...I am thinking that these dreams are telling me more that i am closer to being with them than not...please let met me first say that I have strong "weird feelings" that I know crap is about to happen before it does0 example, I said my friend Ryan was going to get hurt because I kept seeing/feelin RY, but it wasn't Ryan, it was my boyfriend Roy, and he got shot...so, I know that these dreams are telling me something. I am just afraid they are those I trust that have left me telling me, or trying to get me to leave this world....

This is why I am coming to you...I need better understanding...if you can't, pleaszssszzzzzzzzz tell me who might....I don't want to leave, though a time back all i wanted was to go,,,

Can I ask what Roy was doing to get shot, was it totally random or was he involved in something dangerous?

I don't mind you asking, it was a couple years ago now...he was out with the guys, totally uninvolved in a situation that arose, and he got shot by somebody who decided to shoot into the bar because he(shoooter) got kicked out. Roy was not the intended victim in any way. I knew for a couple months something was going to happen. I had a friend killed in a robbery, and another by a drunk driver all that same year. all were random... completely unrelated, and just a year of bad luck...

I have had those feelings before though, where I call everyone close to me, I just know something bad is on the way...two days later get a call that my grandfather passed on. I wasn't close to him so wouldn't have thought to call him...

It is possible, with Roy, that it was a coincidence I think - not that he was shot, but that you were thinking something bad might happen. I mean you're bound to be expecting bad things to happen if two friends were killed the same year. In fact I think it would be pretty much an ongoing feeling in your life considering what's happened to you, or the people you love. I think you have to bear this in mind when you're trying to make sense of your dreams.

Have you ever been to a counselor to talk about these feeelings, or about your friends that have died?

the feelings I get, they are something I have had all my life, as do my mothr and my great grandmother...I am ok with what happened, roy is fine, and all that, I have grieved the loss of my friends-I dont' feel everyday like bad is going to happen, this was something different than some paranoia...more interested in the dreams of people that passed trying to communicate to me as this has never happened to me before-oh yeah I have dreamed of people that passed on, but it was more like memories than a communication type thing......

Sometimes we have stopped grieving over people and feel we are one hundred percent over the trauma, but our subconscious still brings memories up from time to time. Just because you aren’t paranoid or think that nothing bad is going to happen doesn’t mean your subconscious believes that, this is the root of phobias and such.

Anyway I don’t want to belittle your sense of premonitions et cetera, just that what most people think of as premonitions, especially in dreams, are usually their subconscious bringing up images and feelings that the dreamer thought they had forgotten or never even noticed in the first place. Like you might dream that you have a car crash and it might actually happen, but quite often it’s because of something like you subconsciously noticed the brakes were faulty and your dreams were trying to warn you that the car needs fixing. You may be a little different of course.

Having said that I have had dreams where dead people were talking to me, I’m sure they were more than simple dreams, but that was usually just after they died. They seem to go somewhere else after a short time and only come back in dreams, like you say, as memories or representations of themselves in order to help explain something.

I personally don’t believe that people on the ‘other side’ actually know when we’re going to die, but only become aware of us when we are very sick and really are about to die. I don’t think they would try and beckon to us, asking us to join them, if we are healthy and not in pain – quite the opposite in fact I believe.

Thank you for at least trying to understand, which many people won't even try to...I am somewhat afraid when I get my feelings, but I do talk about them to people, my best friend and my mom....

I just never had a dream where I felt like in the midst, those who have passed have ever like asked me to come with them, just memories, which I am so very grateful that I do have. These were just so super different from anything I have ever had.

I tend to have dreams that are very out spoken...I have a dictionary and when I read about my dreams, oh so right on target, except when they are the premonition dreams. Which, never tell me who, just that something big is about to happen and brace yourself to help those that you love...maybe I need to be on a different type of board. Promise, not crazy, really not!!

I don't think you're crazy, and I do believe what you're saying is true. I also think that you should be aware of how dreams work, which I think you are, and factor some of that into your 'feelings' sometimes. Also things do change in our lives, as we get older, so it's quite normal for something different to happen, even though it feels odd because it never happened before. It could be a new development in your subconscious or psyche, that seems more scary thatn it is because it's new.

By the way, have you ever had one of these premonition feeling where nothing happened, or at least nothing as bad as you were expecting?
